    Oh I just found an article last night on bargaining with the locals. It might be a decent jump off point for you to learn.

    I apologize if we aren’t supposed to link other sites here. If that’s the case, please delete 🙂

    I also found this app.. Maybe someone else has used it? It’s supposed to help you find where you want to go, and then writes it for you to show your taxi driver.

    @Brendan.. I ditched the whiners Friday. Thanks 🙂

    @Jerry… ugh! haha

    @love… the more I read about Chengdu, the more convinced I am that it is the place for me. THEN I found the Chengdu Panda research base (I was planning on a trip to Wolong before that) and knew Chengdu was meant to be 😉

    I apologize for posting this.. really I do. I tried to figure out how to delete it. I was so disgruntled and pissy after reading that other forum, and it’s been building. I am very excited about the opportunity to come there, and they were just killing it. I’m very friendly and outgoing and I love new experiences and adventure and living outside of my comfort zone. I love to see growth and change around me, and within myself. I have a great job here, and am taking a year sabbatical to do this. And now I feel like I’ve whined to you all.. so Imma shup 😉

    But Charlie and Zilch, thank you for your responses. 🙂

    You guys are killing me! I’m learning more about squat toilets here than I have watchin videos on youtube! (Im kidding!) I’m thinking, though, that I should leave squat toilets as part of the mystery of the far east… or something. 🙂

    Thanks for the info, and the laughs 🙂

    Can you stream full episodes from the US networks, such as CBS.com, NBC.com and ABC.com?

    Hi Brendan and thanks!

    There is a lot I’ve read about Chengdu that I find appealing over other cities. Chengdu seems to me to have a big city busy life feel, but still laid back and relaxed. A place to enjoy your surroundings, with a LOT of different things to enjoy. I also like that it seems more centralized to other cities/sites that I am interested in than Beijing or Shanghai. I can take weekend trips to several spots without spending the entire weekend on the train, or my entire budget on the plane.

    I’m also under the impression that Chengdu is cleaner than Beijing or Shanghai. I actually kind of enjoy the whole breathing thing. Call me a wimp if ya want… I can take it. 😉

    After I decided on Chengdu, I discovered the Panda research base there. I was planning on going to Wolong. I’m a panda fanatic. I can’t even tell you how much I’m looking forward to holding one, even for only 2 minutes.

    What I don’t want to find… is.. I haven’t really thought about it. My biggest fear is having a squat toilet in my apartment lol. I’m likely to fall in during the middle of the night. Other than that, I’m ready to take it as it is. Enjoy the experience.
