Would love to know more about hiking in that area.

Any way it’s possible to share the hiking info here, so more people can learn and enjoy it?

With that kind of salary you can live very comfortably for sure.
Most people who adjust to the Chinese lifestyle can start to live comfortable from 6000 to 8000 net spending a month. Or even less

With that I mean, If you sometimes have a cheaper 10-20 rmb lunch/dinner or cook by your self then 6000 should be enough. If you need to eat pizza and a 200 rmb bottle of wine each day, you would need more then 6000 net spending a month.

    Hey Charlie,

I tried to set that up as well, but also failed on the same issue.
    No Chinese ID here…

Let’s say you set it of correctly. What would you use it for anyway?

Are there any uses for us laowai?

I find this hard to believe, not saying it is not true. But this is so against all my own experiences. In China in general I never encountered this and also not in Deyang.

I attended a friends wedding there and know a couple foreigners that own a cafe/bar on wenmiao street in Deyang.

Maybe it is just with mixed couples. But in the 5 days I spend there with a local I did not have any of these encounters or even a hint of that…

    Hi Anton,

Chengdu is a nice place to be. If you didn’t decided on where to stay yet, check out Mr. Panda hostel – http://www.mrpandahostel.com.

Nice place to stay and easy to get in contact with other travelers and the staff can help you with pretty much any travel plan or general issue you might have. Even you already have an other place, come over and we can have a beer.

I’m there at an almost daily base as I do some parttime work there. But be sure to double check with me on specific times. WeChat ID: jslemmer

Thanks to everyone who contacted me. I got plenty of leads to investigate.

So sort of closing this topic…

Im also interested in the kitchen set. Could pick it up this week if it is decent.
But it needs to be in a box/bags so I can move it.

Please let me know your WeChat ID.

    Charlie,

Has that been a problem in Chengdu. To many teachers from those countries with possibly a “low” level of English skill teaching in Chengdu?

Or why you specifically mention those 2 countries?

    Yeah, I’m from The Netherlands.
Don’t think there are many students lining up to teach Dutch.

But thanks for your insight. Good for me to know that trick.
All the other requirements are not a real problem. Just that rule of being a native of an English speaking country for an English teaching position.

How about your born in an English speaking country but then got a passport of a non native English speaking country :/

But the rules are never perfect. But thanks again for your insights.

    Hey Justin,

Do you have more info on trail runs in Sichuan?
I’m currently still in Holland, but preparing to move to China later this year/next year.

And I do quite a bit of running in NL and would like to continue that in China.
    Especially trail running and hiking.

    Cheers
