If anyone is still looking for record shops there are 2 of them within about 5 minutes walk from the area i now live (roughly hong xin lu kou) around here there is a whole area about record players and music equiptment (microphones, PA systems etc) if anyone needs it i can get a more detailed address of the 2 stores
On wechat, the ‘chengdubeer’ page posts weekly/ bi-weekly information on upcoming events/ meetups and stuff.

For one day i reccomend: Wuhou Temple- Jinli street- Roman Holiday Plaza (all are within walking distance of each other
for 1 day you could also visit tianfu square meuseum, chunxi lu (shopping area) and Taikooli (newly opened shopping area set within an ‘ancient chinese esq-ness’
in the south there is also the ‘global centre’ which is one of the biggest building in the world, definately worth a visit.
you’ll encounter the problem that to teach legally you need to have a foreign expert certificate which requires a degree, some schools will allow you to teach there but it will be very hard for you to get the correct visa type……
1)pick a street with shops on
2)then walk down it at night time
pretty much guaranteed to find some!to make it less obvious you are going in make sure to wait outside it for a bit suspiciously and then when you finally go in be sure to look both ways, at least 2-3 times each direction to check for people. even if there are people they will see how confident you are.
also most wowo’s and family marts (the small convinience stores) sell a few things, if purchasing from here make sure only to look both ways before paying the cashier. this way they will know you are cautious of pickpockets and make them believe you are more confident and cautious
