嘉逸水乡There’s a location 15min or so from the airport and has a nice all you can eat/drink menu and a bit newer and nicer than herijun.
In both of these spas, English is practically nonexistent.

You’ll be able to live comfortably, but not lavishly. Based off of 10 months of budget data that I have, and off the top of my head here are average prices for things:

- Groceries 10/meal (not including utilities)

That wage is below average for full time teaching in Chengdu, which I’m guessing should actually be about double that. You’ll be able to get 5 drinks every weekend and eat out a lot at mostly cheaper options, but saving money might be difficult if you plan on being social or plan on doing much recreation. Take advantage of cheap public transportation (bus, public bike, metro,) and stay off taxis and you’ll be able to stretch your yuan a bit further. I imagine you’ll do a fair bit of shopping when you first arrive to settle in, look to buy used, as foreigners are frequently leaving and getting rid of household items like appliances, dishes and cutlery in bulk.
This is imported product from the UK by Ari (everyone’s favorite Jew) from AquaFood. Some of the highest quality smoked salmon in the world. But of course the quality is reflected in the price as well.

Everyone seems to be talking about Shadowsocks these days- also a proxy, which is supposed to be faster and more reliable. I haven’t figure out how to set it up myself yet.
Other than that, most everyone seems to be using Astril or Express.
I renovated the kitchen and bathroom at my bar. The tile averaged out to about 60 RMB/sqm (shopped around a lot outside the city, prices inside the city will be at least 30% higher). The labor for tiling the kitchen and the bathroom floors and walls (in total about 25 sqm) I roughly estimate to be about 1000 RMB.
Grout will cost a couple hundred.
Rubbish disposal depends on how much you have, but will probably be another couple hundred.
Drop ceiling for the kitchen and bathroom was about 900 for materials and installation.
It varies greatly depending on your materials and exactly what type of job needs to be done.
That’s about standard for shared apartments in that area. Finding the decent apartments is the real challenge.

Just heard that there’s a new BBQ place opening soon near the Poly Center called Tim’s or something. Apparently it’s popular in Beijing.
Iron Pig, without a question, is the only authentic American BBQ in Chengdu. Their tongzilin location is very popular and they recently opened a second location outside of the city which is beautiful depending on the weather. Rumor is they will have crawfish boils.
