I play competitive table tennis, and I know a quite a bit about the various styles, and about the bats/rubbers. I can help you choose an appropriate racket for your style, if you need.

Also, if you do not play competitive yet, then you should NOT buy an expensive racket. Beginners and intermediate players shouldn’t buy advanced or professional level rackets/rubbers. They haven’t yet perfected their strokes, and by using these higher level rackets, they are likely to develop bad habits to try to control the ball.

Also, 红双喜 (double happiness) is one of the cheapest brand there is, but is still a good brand to use (unless it doesn’t fit your style). But, you can still find other popular brands in China. There are a bunch of shops near 省体育馆站 Sichuan Gymnasium Subway Stop.

Here is an Australian table tennis forum which may be helpful. I have used it many times before. http://ooakforum.com/

and, here is my QQ if you need to contact me. 2381795545

Thank you for the information. It isn’t too bad if I have to leave China to get Z visa, but it’s a big inconvenience.

Initially I was planning on staying as a student, but I can’t pass up this job offer. It is a good job, and I am excited to start the job in August.

As for me, it would have to be during the weekend, because I am a bit far from Chengdu centre. But I might be able to convince a friend to come with me 😀

Thank you Alice. I’m not there yet, but I am looking for work, and I will hopefully be there soon. And yes, I have tefl certification.

An electrical bike seems like a good idea, I haven’t thought about it. I will have to look into getting one, once I’m in Chengdu.

Is qq really on it’s way out? My friend once told me that is was dying too, but I just didn’t see it. Almost all of my chinese friends use qq, and the few that don’t use weixin instead to get their qq messages. Many of my friends also use qzone through qq.

Maybe qq/qzone is just more popular with the younger crowd. I am young, and I think all of my chinese friends are aged 16-28.
But, maybe it could be more popular with the youth because some of them love to play qqgames (but I do too 😛 )
