Thankfully the air has been decent over the past week, but on Saturday 2017-07-08, it was horrible! The smog was clearly visible, and the AQI was at 180 or so. Even in the summer, Chengdu’s air quality leaves a lot to be desired.
I hope we keep getting more and more nights of heavy rain, because they seem to do a good job flushing a lot of the pollution out of the air.
ig246zParticipantThanks, Charlie. If you need a third one, send me a message!
ig246zParticipantThe China Unicom shop that Peter mentioned is located on Kehua road, in south-eastern Chengdu. Between Sichuan University and the southern point of 2nd ring road. They will sell you a SIM card, but won’t do jack all as far as giving you the APN settings you need to use your data plan. (I specifically requested these settings from them, but rather than tell me the required configuration, they tried to sell me a new phone that I didn’t need.)
ig246zParticipantHave you searched on Google? It seems like there’s a lot of information available on this there, including places on Homestay.com, Airbnb.com and others.
I did several months ago. I remember exploring a website and seeing prices not unlike those that my reference gave me. I wanted to hear from someone who has actually used a legitimate program that doesn’t try to rip people off by charging them far more to share an apartment than they’d pay for their own private place.
ig246zParticipantI am just here to find a home for some of my stuff before I leave in 2 weeks. I am failing to see your issue here. You told me it was half of my asking price on ebay. I went away spent some time to find a similar model on ebay (in my case I found inferior/broken models for a higher price) so people have some point of reference. If it doesn’t interest you or meet your needs for that price that’s cool. I am chatting with numerous people discussing different deals about all of the items on sale. I haven’t been discourteous to you in anway so I am not sure why all the hostility.
Wow, I am so insulted by your ad hominem attacks attacks. You clearly know me very well. STFU yourself and troll somewhere else.
ig246zParticipantAs if! Go sell that stuff on Taobao, like you said you would however number of months ago. You’re wasting your time if you’re not willing to deal. Technology evolves; people are not going to pay such high prices for outdated tech, especially when far better machines can be had for only a little more money.
ig246zParticipantYou charged virtually the same price for the laptop several months ago and it didn’t sell. You’re asking too much for a machine that old. The same model goes for half that amount on Ebay. I am offering 225; Take it or be stuck with the laptop until your price is more reasonable.
ig246zParticipantI can’t read many Chinese characters. What is the address of Bookworm, and what part of town is it in? (North, South-East, etc.)
ig246zParticipantThere’s a Halal restaurant in south-east Chengdu that serves tasty food and is affordable.
ig246zParticipantI would love to see Bioforce in action, as well as any other games featuring old-school play mechanics.
ig246zParticipantLooks very cool. Shame I can’t make it b/c of work…
ig246zParticipantI share the same concerns as you, caramelbent. If I buy food from Trust Mart, I stick to eating food that I can identify and know to be healthy: peanuts, oatmeal, and fruit like apples, oranges, etc. I haven’t been able to identify any soy milk thus far.
ig246zParticipantHey, what’s up? I love playing console games in general. My favorite kind of games are 2D fighters in the vein of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Guilty Gear, The King of Fighters, etc.
I have an original Xbox and Wii, but not with me in China. Let me know if you want to meet up for some local gaming fun.
ig246zParticipantI don’t know if this matters to anyone, but I’ve encountered a fair number of scam artists on Chengdu Living. Deven, the OP (Original Poster), is not one of them.
All the best on your flight back to America, Deven!
ig246zParticipantI’m pretty fresh off the boat as far as being in Chengdu goes, but there’s a Trust Mart department store near where I work, and you can buy a 450 gram bag of (unshelled) peanuts for about 11.80 RMB. Salted unshelled peanuts sell for about 13.50 RMB. Those are the most affordable rates for nuts that I’ve been able to find thus far.
ig246zParticipantHey there,
I recently sent you a reply via WeChat and we had a little chat. I just wanted to reiterate that I am willing and able to store your stuff at my apartment, provided that the landlord will give me the direct deposit information I need to stay where I am (I’m subletting an apartment from a co-worker).
ig246zParticipantPlease check WeChat for a new invite; I attempted to contact you to discuss the apartment.
ig246zParticipantHi there,
I will be taking over someone’s apartment in Chengdu and might have use for the Kitchenware starterskit depending on what the current owner leaves for me. Is yours still available?
ig246zParticipantSent you a message on WeChat. Please reply ASAP.
