Also, for the uninitiated, here’s a bit more info on goldsprints:

    Video:

    http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTM1NTcyODIzMg==.html

It’s basic.  We have two stationary bike trainers.  To this we’ve fixed a bike each.  Each trainer has sensors that link up with a computer.  A program then processes this information and provides real-time stats on speed, distance ridden, and time.

We then set up matches and pit riders up against one another.  The catch is, the race information is projected behind the riders.  Their performance is gauged by the audience, cheering and jeering.

It’s a lively vibe and worth trying.  See how fast you really can be.

Thanks dude!  You should also check out the new shirts we have in the shop.  They’re pretty slick too.

    New T!

As for stickers we have a whole lot of them.  You’re free to stop by and pick up a million of them.

Attention:  Friday Night Ride, Slow ride tomorrow at 8 p.m.

Thanks for the AMA, Ray.  Read through it.  Some interesting pointers.  That type of bicycle culture/community doesn’t exist in China.  Like so many things, bikes here are built like short term expendable tools.

There’s a complete lack in the market for things of a higher quality that last through the ages.  Picking up an old Phoenix abandoned in your apartment complex is the closest thing to scoring a sweet ride or bit like he says.

As for bamboo he’s a bit off the mark too.  The biggest challenge with bamboo frames is how to process the raw tubing to last against things like splitting, rot, etc.  The joints (if done right) are built in a way similar to a handmade carbon frame and are the least likely area of issue.

He vows by steel, but steel, too, if left to the elements will rust and go to ruin.  Even carbon these days is far more outstanding a material than it was even 20 years ago.  I would not be surprised that in 30 to 40 years time there will still be carbon parts from today floating around.

The dude is definitely bike savvy, but is very much the “if you know everything about bikes they’re essentially free” type of dude.  This is true, but for most average cycling joes is a tough-to-attain goal.

This for sure was one of the coolest rides we had the opportunity to support.

Organized by the LGBT community, but open to anyone who gives a damn about equality, this ride celebrated equality in fabulous style.

Check out a few of the photos from the ride.

This week fast is in.  Expect 30 to 40 quick kilometers.

Diverse group of riders so there’s no need to worry about leaving behind or being left behind.

    Hope to see you there!

Big thanks to everyone for their support.  Many thanks to those who took advantage of our discounts and picked up new bikes.

This past Sunday’s ride and maintenance workshop went wonderfully.  For those who didn’t make it, keep an eye out for next time.  In the meanwhile, check out some photos detailing what you missed.

As we wrap up our customer appreciation, we hope to go out with a bang.

This Sunday we’ve got 2 free events on offer.  Meeting at 8:30 and setting out at 9 a.m., we’ll be leading a countryside ride.  We’ll stop midway for lunch.  Expect about 40 km.  Rentals are available!

Afterwards, starting at 2 p.m. at the shop we’ll be hosting a free bicycle maintenance workshop.  We’ll cover the basics, from fixing flats to getting rid of the squeak in your chain.

Also on offer will be freshly fried Belgian-style fries provided by our friends at Munchies.  Lazy Pug has also thrown in their support and are offering us use of their bar bike.  We’ll have cold Vedette on tap!  20元 a glass.

Show up and we’ll give you a free Qingdao.  Huge thanks to everyone for your continued support, especially those special folks that were savvy enough to pick up a new ride these past couple weeks.  We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Unfortunately we helped see this sweet steed off to a faithful new owner this afternoon.

In brighter news, we’re running our customer appreciation promotions right now and all new bikes are automatically 10% off.

It’s a once-in-a-year occasion to show you all just how much we love you (a lot), so maybe now’s your chance!

Hi everybody.  It’s back!  This week will be special with extra riders, a guest mix put together specially for the ride, and a buy one get one free special on beers.  Oh.  And did I mention there’s also more free stuff and goodies for our beloved community?

The date on the poster is wrong.  It’s this Friday the 5th at the standard 8 p.m.  Rentals are free for use for this ride, although we’ll still need a security deposit on the bike.  Call in advance Friday to reserve yours.

Hurts to see both these bikes up for grabs!

Another thing worth noting is that it’s modded to fit anyone from 150cm to 180cm.

Perfect little buggy for moving thing around the neighborhood.

This is a steal.  For those looking to get a good bike at a fair price with a good lock to keep it yours forever, this is an insanely good deal.

Something similar to this new would easily cost double.  And you won’t find any similarly priced new bike that can match the quality.

Fortunately, the original owner also had some taste and picked a bike that also looked great.  Can’t say all our customers are graced with that skill.

    Master says faster!

This week fast is back.  We’ll be doing another out-and-back.  So strap on your gloves and helmet and expect to get winded.

As always, remember your own safety as well as the safety of others.  Don’t do anything dangerous.  That makes it less fun for everyone!

The best part is, we’ve no clue what the playlist is.  It’s been pieced together by a friend of ours.  He’s done this on a couple special occasions.

The first of which was an eclectic mashup of everything from funk to EDM.  His last effort was a special disco mix that included an insane variety of awesome unheard of jams from the late 70s.

Unfortunately we don’t have the equipment to do the lights this week.  Look forward to doing that sometime in the future.

This week we’ll continue the tradition. Expect a slow ride. Show up at 7:30 p.m. Ride promptly sets out at 8! An added bonus is this week we’ll have on our speakers a guest playlist. Expect some cool new tunes.

Never been but want to check it out? Don’t hesitate to come by. If you’re without a bike, we offer rentals. Join us and soak in the summer vibes.

Thanks again to all those who came out.  It was a bit hectic this past week with all the lights that PLGRM helped set up, but it was totally worth it.

Remember!  Starting up this evening we’ll be alternating the rides.  Tonight we’ll reintroduce the fast ride.

There will be two groups heading out at 8 p.m.  We’ll have maps available of the route.  Expect roughly 40 kilometers to get your heart racing.

Safety first.  Ride within your limits and be sure to wear a helmet.  Lights never hurt, too.

We’re looking forward to getting our legs loose.  Are you?
