Be there or be square!
PeggyParticipantHere are some photos from yesterday’s trip to Shiling Forest Park. The weather was great and the air not too bad. We went out in full force with Jacob manning our new banana boat, complete with everyone’s stuff and a PB&J picnic lunch.
The next ride will be Sunday, June 1st (Dragon Boat Festival holiday) and we’ll explore the scenic Shuangliu Greenway.
PeggyParticipantAnyone get the reference?
PeggyParticipantWhatya know? It’s Friday again.
PeggyParticipantIt’s back! This Sunday. Arrive at Natooke at 9:30. We leave at 10:00 a.m. sharp!
Expect about 45 kilometers. Most of the roads are smooth and well-paved but we’ll be taking a detour through 十陵森林公园 on the East side of town. Roads there might get a little bumpy!
There’s a nice lake and field (check out the photos!) where we’ll stop for a picnic. So bring a little something to eat and something to sip on. We’ll then head back and try to wrap up around 1:30.
Again, we advise you bring the necessary tools and a pump to do repairs or patch a flat on the fly. Safety equipment — helmets, gloves, and the like — always recommended.
Don’t have a bike? Book one of our rentals in advance!
Smooth trails!
PeggyParticipantForgot to mention time. Starts at 7:30 so be sure to get there early and get a good seat.
Still uncertain how to find the place? Swing by Natooke and we’ll go together.
PeggyParticipantIf you haven’t seen this 1997 classic, then you’re missing out. This is a fine piece of Chinese cinematography well worth braving this lovely weather to enjoy. Showing is at 火烧堰巷 (huo shao yan xiang), one street north of 芳草东街 (fang cao dong jie). There’s a 7 Days Inn at the entrance to this walking street so it’s hard to miss.
Hope you can make it out!
PeggyParticipantRide on!
PeggyParticipantBoy, I’d really like it if you could make it out for a ride with us!
PeggyParticipantLimited number of advanced tickets available for this at Natooke, so if you’re up for coming by and scratching me behind the ears, I may be inclined to send you off with one…
PeggyParticipantTonight! Family friendly movie this week! Come watch the Muppets in Yulin’s premier open air movie venue. Starts as soon as it’s dark! We’ll save a seat for you.
PeggyParticipantLast month the first Sunday countryside ride organized by Natooke成都 was a great success. So here comes the May version.
Saturday May 3rd, we will be heading west from the city center for a 55km loop starting and finishing at Natooke成都. We will meander through some of suburbs to the west of Chenggu, briefly ride atop a short green-way heading towards Wenjiang (温江), passing through and enormous, nearly vacant “Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibibition Center”. Somewhere along the way we will stop for a bite to eat before heading back to the shop around 3pm.
Anyone interested in participating should arrive at Natooke成都 by 9:30am and we will set out by 10am. The event is free and should take about 4 hours or so. We recommend each person or group has an inner tune repair kit/pump among them in the event of a puncture.
Natooke成都: Xiaotian East Street 3-26; 小天东街3号附26号
Rental bicycles are available!!
PeggyParticipantVeloci(pede)raptor. Weather’s looking mighty fine to go for a strut.
PeggyParticipantOld place, old friends. See you this afternoon.
PeggyParticipantSee you there.
p.s. bring treats. I personally prefer chicken sausage or tea eggs. Jussayin’
PeggyParticipantThanks everyone who came out to watch the movie with us,see you next week.woof
PeggyParticipantLadies and Gentlemen, Chengdu’s only Banana Boat is back. Well, almost. Regardless, this Sunday (tomorrow) April 13th we’ll be hosting this year’s first outdoor film night featuring “The Flying Scotsman”, a 2006 cycling film about a cycling legend, Graeme Obree. The film will be in English with Chinese subtitles.
The location this month will be Huo Shao Yan Alley in Yulin off of Yulin Middle Rd.
Meet there directly before 8pm or come by Natooke成都 and ride over with us.
PeggyParticipantPeggyParticipantThere will be a group heading to the Dojo by bicycle this evening leaving from Natooke. Anyone interested in joining come by around 7:30pm.
The route out to San Sheng Xiang and the Dojo is only about 13km, has a few rolling hills but is otherwise flat. We’ll just mosey out there are a comfortable pace which should take about 40-50 minutes.
