    The future is behind us. We missed it! Now we’re heading for some other shit, some people’s wild and wet dreams.

    The future has decided long ago that it doesn’t need us.

    I’m not taking this post/request/ad seriously. My light-hearted remark is as far as I’m prepared to go with it here.

    I donโ€™t know how to start this โ€“ but i am looking for a boyfriend

    I am looking for somebody who is honest, smart, humorous and fun to be with, a problem solver and a communicater, can express themselves freely when it comes to sex, but most importantly, to be loving and caring.

    If you are Caucasian, between 27~40, ready to meet someone, reply me your wechat number, and let us meet first and see how it goes from thereโ€ฆ

    Check, check, check – check, check and check..

    Caucasian – shit! Dammit.. ๐Ÿ˜€ haha…

    It’s a shame too, because I fall in the age range too ~ :p

    Thanks guys. Great additional points as well.

    I’m glad the plus point about the ladies being beautiful is echoed. I thought I was going to be harrassed about it and be called a misogynistic, sexist pig! ๐Ÿ˜€

    Things have changed for the better ever since I posted this. Perhaps the lists have been translated and passed on to the relevant authorities.. Then again, I am on my final month here and I don’t care as much now and just looking forward to seeing my family again after 9 months away from them.

    @Dan

    That is quite a poetic response :p I couldn’t have put it better myself.

    P.S. It goes without saying that ChengduLiving is a major and an absolute necessary positive ~

    No problem Silvia ๐Ÿ™‚

    I will send you a PM with my boss’s phone number. She asked me to tell you to just give her a call and she can straighten things out with your current employer before transferring you over.

    I can put you in touch with my current employer if you would like Silvia. She is a good lady and takes very good care of her teachers.

    @SilviaT

    I also work at numerous places via an agency in a week. I started with 3, then went down to 2 places and now I’m at 4 different schools and colleges scattered around Chengdu, but now that is coming to an end soon as I have found an English language training school next door to Sichuan. I will make the job switch this summer. I definitely think getting a direct contract with one place is the best scenario. Running around between schools makes you feel like you don’t belong anywhere.

    @Deven

    I totally agree with you about some of the aspects of teaching English in China as a foreigner. I don’t know if it’s just a Chengdu thing or a China-wide, this mentality of the schools not caring for the most part how good or bad the teacher is. Also, it’s really depressing at times how the students themselves don’t care to learn essential topics even if put in an entertaining format, and how little they care about a background to some piece of information. I got wise long ago and just learned to program the kids, China-style, though in some private schools the kids care and are refreshingly interested. It’s amazing how in parts of the world kids would kill to have school facilities and foreign teachers like the kids do here in Chengdu.

    Hey Silvia,

    I would just like to respond to the part of your case about Chinese teachers interfering with your lesson plan.I’ve had a similar case last semester at a primary school where the local teacher asked me to cover a particular topic. I accepted her wish, but after that it got silly with other requests all over the place and I ignored her and she stopped. This semester at a middle school, one teacher asked me to cover topics from the book, I simply told her I would try but that I had topics planned that I think would benefit the students more as a speaker, she agreed and accepted. In this case I was able to communicate directly with the teachers, but if you can’t you can do so via your employer/agent or just ignore them and do your thing ๐Ÿ˜€ I personally think a foreign English teacher at kindergarten level is pointless, the local teachers are hard working enough and have a closer relationship with the kids.

    No, no, no, no! This sounds like the worst China teaching nightmare ever!

    Frustrating things such as delays and lack of clarity happen in China, but not so extreme as in your case. If you are unhappy with the work conditions at this company then just inform them you want to terminate the contract based on that reason. Check in the contract for termination conditions. They violated standard rule number one, airport pick up! Then they didn’t provide you with a place to stay! In my contract if either parties breaks their end of the agreement there is a 4,000 RMB fine!

    Would you like to name and shame this “training centre” / company / agency?

    Quit and demand a release letter. They have nothing to lose, they just won’t pay you any benefits such as airline ticket reimbursement, if that is in your contract to be paid to you at the end.

    Hey there,

    Before coming to China I signed on many documents and statements including a government contract and my contract with my agent (employer), which I then scanned and emailed over for obtaining work visa purposes and the Foreign Expert Certificate.

    Once I was over here, I was given 2 hard copies of my contract with my agent in the company office. I read through them, signed each one, she signed and stamped both documents. I kept one and they kept one.

    As for quitting, I did that last month and didn’t need to give a written letter, but you will need your employer to give you a reference letter and a release letter in order to move on to another employer. This again is needed for Foreign Expert Card renewal, visa and so on.

    According to a recent 2013 Gallup poll of Americans, most believe that the assassination of President Kennedy was a conspiracy.

    Do you guys think Oswald acted alone, or that there were hidden hands at play?

    I work with a recruitment agency and not directly with the college. I only worked there one semester before being transferred to accommodate another teacher.

    I hear that Sichuan University is one of the best universities, but not sure if that is just in this part of China or the country as a whole.

    Hi there,

    I worked at the University of Electronic Science and Technology in West Chengdu. If this is the one you mean, I taught there for one semester this academic year teaching English to English Major students and those of other majors. I was at the campus near the Metro Station Baicao Road.

    I liked teaching there. Clean classrooms, with computer and PowerPoint projector with audio and microphone capability. The campus can be confusing at first, but after a week there or less you will get used to finding your way around it. The cafeteria sucks ๐Ÿ˜€ There are restaurants 15-20 minutes walk away from the campus, chief among them is McDonald’s as well as some Taiwanese and Thai cuisines. There are plenty of local food restaurants that do some tasty dishes.

    The students are great, friendly and helpful as are the staff and teachers (those I knew of anyway).

    I hope this has been of help to you.

    Fair points Charlie.

    I disconnected from rap back when I was in college 10 years ago. Around that time The Game was fresh on the scene. He ressurected the West Coast for about a year, then silly beefs and arguments with G-unit and Fiddy killed it all for me haha..

    By the way, I was scanning through the story of mine I told you about, and the record producer for my rapper is named Charlie ๐Ÿ˜€ I think I based that on you, because I completed that story last August before coming to ChengCity.

    We shall see if any one will remember To Pimp A Butterfly in 5 or 10 years as they do All Eyez On Me, Ready To Die and 2001 etc..

    I did listen closely, and checked the lyrics sheet whenever I heard something that sounded familiar, like what you brought forward Charlie about DemoCRIPS and ReBLOODlicans: No More Gangs in Government which is the title of a book written by former Governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura whom I respect. Still, there is no execution.. Where is KL going with that reference.. What’s the punchline?

    I was aware of the album’s title and its reference to the Mockingbird book, but come on, it’s a nonsense album name and doesn’t do much favour in extinguishing stereotypes about black America, if Kendrick is really about that. Could’ve called it anything else positive..

    Maybe I hold my bar too high. If you want to be political and insightful in your lyrics, you better understand and believe in what you are saying so you deliver it convincingly. Examples of such lyricists include Immortal Technique, Lupe Fiasco, Lowkey and one person who has been brought to my attention recently by Johnny5, and that is Childish Gambino! Also, I created a fictional rapper who is part of one of my stories about the entertainment industry based on Lupe Fiasco’s lyrics and persona and Tupac’s final year. His lyrics pack more punch than KL! A young man under personal pressure to succeed, who knows so much, but understands he may only have a short time to do it.
