being a mainland chinese, having lived in America for a few years and trust that he/she knows america very well…………….  that is exactly one big problem of many mainlander nowadays!    If you are so proud of yourself and dislike about foreigners, why are you seeking partners here?

internet search, 🙂  i still find it very handy if I could just type chinese and got directly to those chinese company websites.  but it is true that one must know chinese, got some businesses experiences to be able to  distinguish and decide to which ones to check further.

another possibility is that one buy from exporter in europe, so you get all the necessary papers.  however, since most of these exporters have already agent for HK/China market, so one may buy from HK then ship into China and thus more convenient and cheaper.  ?

    Hi Jer

    I hope it helps:

    1. importing food into HK isnt simple cos HK has very strict control in food safety, it requires also plenty different health, safety related certificates from the exporting countries, then specific to transport and store etc etc.

    2. it is better to do the search in Chinese, I tried both English and Chinese search, and only Chinese search takes you to those local brokers sites.

    3. as said above, all required documents already given in the brokers sites. you may choose your own carrier or let the broker do it for you.  This I think is better to let the broker to do all so they take full responsibilities.

    4.  shipping from HK then into China, i dont see why it would be cheaper, cos the importing requirements into china is the same, only may the goods be transhipped from HK if there is no direct shipment from the exporting countries to where you want it landed in china, also depends on whether the carrier can provide the right container for food (not general merchandise)

    5.  the major problems that my friend encounter is in fact to obtain the health/food safety certificates from the supplier/exporter cos he was planning to buy from different small suppliers, consolidated into one shipment.  however, many of these small suppliers in europe are in fact very small, home-based that they either dont have the set up to pass for the requirements to get the certificate, or the costs just not justified.

    6. may be i try later to search some brokers details then forward the link to you.  please pm me your email address.  (well, but i cant promise i can do it fast.  🙂

    cheers

i was talking about mainland china too.   as far as i remember, one must be able to provide permit/certificates issued from some specific authorities of the exporting country.  you may also ask the broker to provide a copy of the others to see what it is.

    Good for you, Federico

I have checked similar info for a friend not long time ago, only too bad I didnt keep the details.  But it is rather straight forward and easy search on the internet (to get the info and brokers details), your wife may help you cos those are mainly chinese company/websites.   Required documents/ license/ customs/process whatsover are all there.   then you may just contact these different brokers for the charges and further details.

Just a friendly reminder, 20k/month may not be considered a big sum of $$ back in where you are from or mine (ie. Hong Kong), it is however quite a lot here to many locals.  say many of them are still making 2k or so/month… this gives you an idea.   Take care well and play low profile.  :p

20k after rent, i think you can afford not only a butler but also a driver if you want.  🙂  I never spent over 12k a month and that include 2000 for rent, 500 for the utilities, eat out every meals (never cook), some shoppings on Taobao for stupid little things, plus a round trip to HK.  well, this may go up a little bit cos the ticket in high season costs more.   anyway, i just started to think if i could spend that much, i will go for holiday at least once a month too.

my mother never wants to understand other’s culture cos she dont need to work, she is very happy and content with her daily life.  isnt that wrong or make her a no good person?   each person has its own path, expereinces, backgroud, situation, preferences, etc etc to make up what they are and how they make their own choices.   To accept that is indeed also a respect to the other.

We just think differently, federico.   To you, it is too much simplicty, but to me, accept is not a simple thing.  Accept that each is different doesnt mean there is no respect.  If one is so hateful about China, it is his/her own choice.

Federico, seems you dont get my point.  I agree 100% and admire 200% of what Charles has said here.

People are different, for example, some take sterotype seriously, some dont, and each of us have our own standard and experience, for example, you feel bad when you hear your friend talking bad about Chinese.  I just won’t, not because I disagree or agree.   Some really like talking bad about everything, but then, there are also people who dont.  So, relax.

isnt this just another type of sterotype? yes, we are all the same but yet different, i think i will just accept it.

🙂 as about how much it worths, it is decided by the market, if you see the no of sales it had, it already gave you the answer.  This is not a special item at all, also if you looked what is being posted as from Alibaba, you cant say it is not handmade.  It is also handmade.  only not by the hand of the one who posted it.   I am just trying to say for such a common product, will you spend so much time to make and dream to sell at good price? you may try.

I understood that and it is fair that one can complaint to the site operator for others have broken the rule.  However, why people are willing to pay more to buy handicrafts/original stuffs? it is not about how many work hours one have put into it or how many lunches one have skipped to have it made, it is all about its uniqueness, its design, its workmanship that cannot be found in mass production.  if you arent at that level, it is also fair to be beaten.

you are actually the one who are “too clever”  if you knew within 1 minute, people can find something that worth the same or more of what you have spent one week to make and you are still doing it.

haven’t seen anyone who is so crazy as you for a long time.  Whether your goods sells has no direct relation whether the other are reselling other stuffs, i believe.   it happens everywhere in this world, it is just buy and sell.   those resell other stuffs is actually selling also their time and services for the buyer.  as a buyer, you have 100% right and freedom to go search for the original maker or the cheapest if you had the time and are willing to to do so.

Also, what’s wrong and how ugly it is to have different sellers for an item from the same supplier?  when you sell your item, are you going to make a rule that whoever buying cannot resell ?  and there is always only one single seller/buyer is allowed?

    Crazy loser.
