Thanks, I think I already found someone, but I sent you a PM just in case.

I did check with my insurance company and they require a copy translated into English.

Good idea on Parkway & Global. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. I will have to check with them.

I saw it yesterday in Singapore. I don’t really recall any scenes of Chinese people or a milk scene. Are those only in the Chinese version? Or, did I just space out?

Just got another email from Coinbase. This one letting me know that my order finally went through so I finally have a bitcoin.

I briefly considered selling it for a quick profit, but it was such a pain to get that I hate to let it go now.

The few cents worth I earned browsing sites is up to $.06 now. Woohoo!

Bitfloor shutdown before I could buy any there, but I didn’t lose any money as the transfer I had initiated just failed to complete and the money went back to my account.

I complained to CoinBase about them cancelling my order as “high risk” and they apologized, said they whitelisted my account so that it wouldn’t happen again, and then manually reinstated the order at the original price ($99). Then 6hrs later I got another “cancelled due to high risk” email from them. I emailed them again and they apologized again and say they’ve fixed it again, but I still don’t see the order as pending or anything. I don’t have much faith in them ever filling it and am not planning on trying to buy any more since it’s such a PITA.

BTW saw on Reddit that China was the top downloader of the BTC client on 4/23. http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1d0iqv/yesterday_was_possibly_the_first_day_in_history/

I did make it for lunch today so here is my mini-review.

I had planned on trying the burger again, but saw they do have eggs benedict and serve breakfast all day, so I had to try that out instead. It was really good and I had to stop myself short of actually licking the excess sauce off the plate. 🙂

One of my friends had a steak sandwich and it looked and smelled really good. I might have to try that next time if I can have them hold the onions.

My other friend did get a burger and it did look good so I might try that again some time too.

I got my wife a beef skewer and salad to go. The beef was super tender, but could use a little more flavor to my taste. It also had mushrooms which my wife really liked. It seemed a little on the pricy side until I tried the beef and realized how tender it was. I’m sure it costs more to get that kind of quality around here.

As good as the beef on the skewer was, I might have to go all out and try a full steak sometime.

Ooh! They have Eggs Benedict now? I will have to try that as it’s one of my favorites.

I loved The Spot and thought their burgers were the best when they first opened. Then towards the end of last year I had a couple in a row that weren’t so good. I don’t know if they changed the meat or the recipe or what. Then I was out of the country for the holidays and then just haven’t really thought about trying it again since I’ve been back.

I heard the menu has expanded since the last time I’ve been there. I think I’ll go there for lunch and give it another shot.

I just felt one about 10 min. ago less than a minute after getting home to our apt. We spent most of the day outside on the ground and didn’t even feel the 5.5 that happened right after 5PM. I definitely think on the ground in an open area would make me sleep better. Maybe I should go camping.

FYI, some friends of mine were on their way to Ya’an from Chengdu this morning when the quake hit. They kept going until they got the pass in the mountain and the road was unpassable due to landslide.

Also, a little late, but I just found this site live blogging the earthquake today. http://www.scmp.com/news/china/article/1219123/live-blog-yaan-earthquake

That was extremely scary on the 24th floor. We just got away from the window and huddled up on the floor with my wife & daughter under me.

I question the likelihood of us being able to make it down 24 floors if there was a worse earthquake & almost wonder if it would be safer to just go up the 2 floors to the roof. I mean if the building collapses we are pretty much screwed no matter what, but at least on the roof we don’t have to worry about things falling on top of us.

I heard one suspect is dead and they are after the other. Also, something about them being Russian, but that was not from a good source so I don’t know how true it is.

    Looks like we won’t know:

Yeah, I’m done with it. Bitfloor fell through & the 1 order I had with Coinbase that was scheduled to fill today was cancelled as “high risk” (my guess is that the price is higher now, so they don’t want to fill my order at the lower price it was locked in at.)

My CapitalOne360 account finally funded, so I can finally send in some money to Bitfloor to trade with. At the current rate of decline prices might be pretty attractive by the time the funds are available.

BTW this is a pretty small amount of money. If you wanted to consider BTC as an investment, this would be a fraction of 1% of my overall portfolio and it is an amount I am comfortable losing. I’m not risking much here.

I think the sites I viewed ad/sites to get BTC are:

    http://www.bitvisitor.com

    http://www.coinvisitor.com

I wouldn’t really recommend it as I ended up with less than US$.01 worth, but I guess it’s better than nothing and I basically just let the page load and then return to my other tab and do what I was already doing and then check back after a few minutes and load another ad.

You can see recent large transfers here:

    http://blockchain.info/largest-recent-transactions

All transactions are public and pseudonymous, since you can see which wallets are involved, not anonymous. So, I’d assume that if you were under investigation for something serious enough, a forensic accountant might be able to trace the money to you eventually. If you took measures such as using mixing services, etc… that might make it much more difficult.

I don’t think Bitcoin itself is “the currency of the future”. I think of it sort of like the alpha version of what we will eventually move to.

In the meantime, I’m interested in it in sort of a speculative/hobbyist sort of way. I finally managed to buy 1 just as sort of a novelty/lottery ticket. Since I’m into computers anyway, I might try mining just for the heck of it.

Oh, can you give me the link?

Sure, I’ll have to check my history when I get home tonight as I don’t quite remember it.

Also, I saw on Reddit that there is an online store in China that caters to expats and now accepts BTC. http://ijustwannabuy.com
