I ate at Best Pizza yesterday, delicious albeit a tad overpriced. This guy is a legend, although I saw him riding about cursing violently caught in a heavy rain one time

3 recommendations for non-East Asian cuisine with foreign chefs/management and open on Sundays:

    1. The Living Room, quiet spot on 12F of SOHO just opposite from Hakka Bar kinda, Irish chef makes familiar European fare, rec’d the lasagna, duck, soups, but menu is always changing, reasonably priced

    2. Safari, I think the boss is from Dubai, but I’m not sure. I’ve been satisfied each time I’ve been

    3. The Spot, I know it’s been said, but the last few times I’ve been we ate various non-burger items off the menu and everything has been really impressive – shrimp, wings, some slow cooked beef and tomatoes which name escapes me, including one French night on a Tuesday maybe

Haha, I’m not really looking to go down the dissident road, but the vehicles are parked on Zhimin Donglu 致民东路,just behind the riverside bar street, about 100-200 meters inside the 1st ring road. They are just the type of military trucks that would typically transport troops, personnel, etc

Does anyone have any info on a possible event today? I live right next to Jiu Yan qiao and there are bus loads full of police, rent a cops, and even some military vehicles all over the place down here… Smthg must be brewing…

Actually Brendan I’d say the event was somewhere between wildly and uber successful. Probably edging out the party on Monday night in the fun category by just a hair. The competition was fierce and throws increasingly accurate as the pressure mounted. It wasn’t the kind of affair that wallflowers sitting in the corner at parties could thrive in (slam!). Maybe hit the weights a tad more and you’ll have what it takes for your next event.

Thanks to everyone who did come out and The Leg for sponsoring, I was very impressed by all competititors with special acclaim for Eli and Freddy.

@Vincent, got some pics of the madness?

Is there a lot of structure to frisbee golf? What are the rules? I have never played before.

it’s very simple, here’s a link to the wiki entry for disc golf

    Hey Folks,

This is a nice topic and all, but instead of folks saying this and that bank is great or sucks, why don’t we see if we can collect some facts with actual stats for each bank. Here is my Bank of China experience:

Outgoing transfer to USA from BoC, individual to individual acct:

    1. Transfer Max: 50,000 USD

    2. Transfer Fee: 1/1000 or 0.1%, minimum 50 RMB, max 260 RMB

    3. 电讯费: 150 RMB, dunno what that translate to, maybe “wire fee”

I recently sent a 4 figure USD amount and the fees worked out to be 0.65% of the amount I sent, very worthwhile in my opinion.

And yes, foreigners can only change/transfer 500 USD in 1 day at BoC, so I had a Chinese friend take care of the above transfer.

Any data out there for ICBC, CMB, or other banks for comparison?

I’m interested too, nights and weekends are good for me, haven’t done archery since I was maybe 10 years old at camp, sounds like a good time, prefer to go to the nicer option if anyone knows what’s out there….
