Dont think 300 is too bad, promoters obviously spending a small fortune with flying in and paying for foreign acts, venue hire, and all the other million other things that need to be bought, hired and promoted to run a festival. 300rmb for a full days entertainment sounds pretty good to me.

Old school rock for me, I’ll go to check out Ash and Extreme.

Saw Ash a few times at festivals and a one off gig at Somerset House in London which was special. Good live but Tim’s voice is a bit weak away from the studio.

i was reading this recently on Shanghai Expat.

    http://www.shanghaiexpat.com/phpbbforum/data-recovery-for-crashed-hard-drive-t130034.html

    Might give you some ideas.

Apparently the clicking noise isnt too bad, means it’s still alive.

I would go for using a new external case for it, this could work. Some people have had success.

Years ago one of my drives died and I did the old stick the HD in a sealed bag in the freezer trick but just limited success.

Those Sheng Qi paintings are recently sold, New York MoMA has collected his work so you can imagine the price isnt cheap. He is a very interesting guy, cut his little finger off in protest to the T1an an men prote$t….

Works by artists like Guo Wei or Guo Jin, brothers based in Chengdu, I have some prints which are affordable, really not going to break the bank. Anyway I will post a message when I get set up in town and you can come around to see.

I’ll let you know how it all goes, right now I am shipping all the artworks from Shanghai to Chengdu. Then I need to renovate the space, I guess unofficially open in December perhaps. No rush really.

Take a look at the website i listed before. I have plenty of prints and can offer them a lot lower than 20,000. All depends what you like though, some prints are worth 100,000.

Anyway when I get to town in the next week or 2 I will post more often on the boards.

I think Charlie has answered most of it, there are only a few galleries in Chengdu, 100 Plateus, K Gallery Chengdu MoCA and I think there is a new one near the Museum called A4 or something like this.

I will be opening a gallery in Chengdu later this year but it will be view by appointment only.

We recently exhibited Chengdu artist Feng Hanping in Shanghai.

Also last year we exhibited the works by AIKO who is the founding member of FAILE the graffiti group before she went solo.

Will keep you updated with the gallery.

I took the risk and bought off Taobao about a year ago.

One of the best purchases I’ve ever made.

850rmb bought me a meaty Gibson Zakk Wylde Les Paul.

    http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=1098042479

Was very happy with it, for 850rmb I couldnt go wrong. Obviously it’s never going to play like the real thing but I was happy never the less.

Next time I am tempted to try the Ibanez Vai Jem

Yes I think we all have the Baijiu story. Mine was in Chengdu Feb 2005, having Chinese New Year at my wife’s families factory out of town somewhere in a small village. All the gongren were there and they all wanted to toast with the laowai. Now I can handle my drink especially Whisky and Vodka, thought this wouldnt be a problem. I had to drink with around 100 workers, cut to 20 minutes later and I was wasted. Lets go explore this peasant village, meet the locals! I was walking into peoples houses, saying hello, having a good look around and promptly got lost.

Next day woke up with a killer hangover and some very interesting photos on my camera and no recollection of them being taken, including me posing with a giant Samari sword for some reason…hmmmm

Baijiu has never been touched since.

Newcastle fan here, any any Arsenal or Newcastle fans want to meet up to watch the match?

Match still could be called off due to the riots though.
