    I’m pretty keen on Ashura. Can remember buying their CD back in 2005 and drinking with them in the old Reggae bar, good times.

    Saw Skyfall at the IMAX in London, was awesome. The plot has its flaws but every Bond film does, loved it. Lets hope they dont cut it too much there are a few Chinese scenes.

    K Gallery and 1000 plateaus are on the same street.

    Next to DuFu’s cottage there is Re-C Gallery.

    There is a gallery called L Art gallery next to Chengdu MoCA.

    In the very south of the city next to Luxe Hills there is A4 gallery.

    In the middle of nowhere there is Blue Roof Art Museum.

    These are all contemporary art galleries.

    That is about it for contemporary art galleries.

    @Nick

    No problem, just drop me a message when you get back from Hong Kong.

    The court is in my compound next to DuFu’s Cottage and HuanHua Xi Park in Qingyang District.

    @Charlie

    This weekend is good, drop me a pm if you are free and tell me a time and I will reserve the court.

    @Tracy

    Perhaps you could play against my wife, she isn’t very good too;)

    Hi Nick, Charlie.

    I have a few average racquets but they are fine for a knock around.

    I am free to play nearly any time, weekdays, weekends and the court is floodlit so evenings are ok too.

    Let me know what works best for you two and can take from there.

    Perhaps you can both arrange at the same time, gives us more options.

    I was pleasantly surprised at the quality at my driving range “Swan Lake”. The range is always busy and the level of the players is high. Got good swings and they look the part. Feel like I need to raise my game after seeing it. The coaches see pretty decent too, been eavesdropping on what they are say. Think lessons run about 500-600 so not cheap.

    Cost at the range is 90rmb = 90 balls.

    I second Huanhuaxi Park next to Du Fu’s cottage. Run early before it gets too busy. I have a nice 2km loop around the lake and edge of the park.

    I’m also looking to have a new suit made, I can’t wait till I go to Hong Kong. Doesnt need to be cheap just good quality, does it exist in Chengdu. Any recommendations would be great.

    Hey Jek

    I recently started playing again, just getting my swing in order at Swan Lake driving range in the west of the city. Haven’t played in years but it’s coming together not too bad. Once I’m there I will hit a course, probably lux hills.

    If you want to hit the range one day let me know, can arrange to meet.

    You can’t do 200rmb tickets but you pay around 600rmb these days for 2000rmb seats if you are lucky, what I’ve paid the past 2 years at the SH F1.

    Olympic football tickets bought 10 minutes before kick off again Shanghai cost be about 200rmb for 1200 rmb seats.

    Golden rule is just turn up and chance it, if you have to pay full price so be it but I’ve never been to an event in China that was completely sold out. ALWAYS got cheaper than the listed price. The Huang Niu is your best friend here unlike the west where they are scum.

    Ben got it spot on, when i said notorized I did actually mean government certified translated. My bad. Got mine done like 12 months ago so can’t remember where it was but there are lots of them around town I remember, just a quick search will find one in your area.

    Like Ben says the tough part is the revision, the first time I took it I revised for like one day and got 70% hoping to wing it, no chance.

    Second time I revised every night for a few weeks and got 94%.

    Just dont forget that police registration form, that was a wasted journey:(

    Getting a licence is pretty simple if you have a driving licence in your own country. Get in notarized, get the most basic health exam ever(basically they check that you are living and have 2 hands). Then swot up the driving test, there are 1345 questions if I remember correctly, at first there looks to be no logic but you soon discover there is a certain pattern to answers and head to the driving centre to sit your multiple choice test. Chances of getting caught are low but beats spending 15 days in a Chinese jail if you get caught. Laowai are getting a bit of a bad rep in China these days and with the 100 day crack down on illegals it’s best to do things the correct way I think. Peace
