Good advice all! Thank you, and thanks for the anti-burglary wishes 🙂

The only really valuable stuff they got was the netbook and iPad, but they had all my writing on them (my memory stick was in the netbook)and pictures etc…so a little gutting.

Will take myself down to Comp City for sure and do some noseying.

You guys are stars thank you so much! The external keyboard option sounds great actually, I hadn’t thought of that…will check all these out. Thanks again and don’t worry – I was just the victim of rubbish luck I’m sure!

Agh Jerry, it’s a sad tale…they got in with a credit card by all accounts. Locks now changed, obviously.

Fed – thanks for helping! I’m basically looking for the cheapest going – really unsure how much they go for new, but I’ve seen a couple on Taobao for 1000 kuai or thereabouts…I need it for writing and Skyping basically, so I’m not fussy (not to sound like too much of a stereotype!)

    Thanks guys!

Succumbed to drinking the tap water within a week, due to waking up with a raging hangover and not being able to face the walk to the shop. No negative effects thus far…

I’m off on Monday, so keen if people are still up for this? Still a bit sore after a wee run-in with a car on my bike, but will woman up for the occasion!

O sweet thank you! My birthday is on 17th December so may have to rock down to the one on 15th to celebrate 🙂

Yeah, tried to buy tickets for Sun but they’re sold out, so decided to head to the night market near Jin Jiang Hotel for some BBQ and drinks instead – any and all are welcome to that too!

Look forward to updates, thanks man!

    Hey Karen,

Sound advice on this thread, but it shouldn’t be impossible for you to get a job by any stretch – the language school I work for employ local teachers, Australians, Americans, Indians, Canadians and Brits.

I would definitely do the CELTA – you may not ‘need’ it in order to get a job, but it’s invaluable in terms of equipping you with the skills to teach. I’m really glad I did mine – worth every penny!

Would also thoroughly recommend jacking in your job and moving to Chengdu – I LOVE it so far!

PM me if you ever need anything – I’d be happy to help 🙂
