    Hey,

My place is in the Le Parc complexes very close to IKEA. They are very new, some still being constructed and the rent ranges from 1500-2800 that I’ve seen. I would recommend this area if you are working in or near IKEA. There is also a very nice gym associated with the Le Parc company. Located right across for the number 1 people’s hospital.

American Eagle Institute is actually open, but not fully ready. I am an English teacher there and have been since we first started back in September. The company was founded in Taiwan and started with a language institute in Nanjing two years ago and decided to try to break into the community here this past year. The curriculum is based on American English and culture; the parents seem to be very happy with last semester, so I think it’s a good program. The school offers bilingual programs- half day Chinese lessons and half day English lessons; and an international program- all day English. (which will begin in sept.) We currently have low numbers due to our facility opening late. From what I understand, the tuition is considerably lower than neighboring kindergartens.

We just opened the new campus in nan chengdu hui (spelling?), and located just a little down from the people’s first hospital. The school is just outside the third ring road by the Hi- tech metro stop on line 1.

If you want any more info just let me know!

I know little to nothing about this topic, although I just wanted to share my info about Nancheng Duhui. I have been living in this area since August and have become familiar with it. It has been developing into a clean, nice upcoming area in my opinion. There is a brand new beautiful Kindergarten in the center of the Le Parc buildings that will open soon and from my understanding it’s the only one in the area. I live directly behind the 1st hospital and yes, cabs are hard to get to and from. Shopping centers are popping up quickly and the models of this area seem to display a great place to live once everything is all finished. Super close to Hi-tech metro stop, fancy club house gym with pool here, and good bus routes as well. Galleria, Auchan’s and IKEA all within 10 minutes. I have no trouble getting into the inner city and in a timely manner, I think. We live in a fancy place where I know the rent is super cheap. Lots of empty places in these buildings, so there is plenty of availability.

Just thought I’d add onto the above suggestion 🙂

Michael- Thanks. Our school is actually very close to the Galleria, so we have thought of that. I think our kids are too small for bowling; bummer.

Sascha- Thanks for the info. I’ll see about checking into these places, bummer that they are seem so similar and only located in shopping malls.

My kids are 2-4, which also presents some level of difficulty. Thanks guys!

This maybe a dumb question, but do ya’ll use Google chrome? It translates the pages into English; it’s the only way I can use Taobao!

Right on. I agree, from what I’ve experienced so far, the Lazy Pug would be the top choice. I’ll keep my eyes open for any news.

Any info about what places will offer a Thanksgiving dinner yet? Trying to gather ingredients sounds like too much work!

Lynsey- I was/is super beginner and choose Mandarin club. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to learn Mandarin. It’s also nice if you can get a group for your class, as some group exercises improve the learning experience. At least for me it does! And, when you get frustrated with tones, you’re not the only one suffering! Haha, good luck!
