VincentParticipantQuote:I think where and how ‘GSM’ might be used by different people might be a little different.
I know what you’re talking about but I have downloaded numerous IPSW’s for my iPhone and they were all GSM.
So what you’re saying is that China Mobile supports GSM phones but I still can’t get 3G with them? Only slower speeds such as EDGE/GPRS?

VincentParticipantCan’t you just return it and swap it for a pair that fits?
VincentParticipantWait a minute, if you have GSM (and not CDMA) you can get 3G mobile internet at China Mobile? Because I’m 100% sure I have a Belgian iPhone 4 GSM version.
September 15, 2011 at 6:35 am in reply to: Hiring a Blonde English Teacher Who Speaks Chinese #13365VincentParticipantJust get a haircut!
VincentParticipantEh? Is that a new feature on iOS5 or something? I’ve never seen that before. Just checked and I don’t have it on 4.3.3.
Or is it a China-iPhone-only thing? 🙂
VincentParticipantYou can also create a wifi network with some smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy and iPhone (jailbroken). Don’t know about other android phones but I guess it can’t be hard to find out.
So if you have an iPhone and get 3G, you can send out a wifi signal to your laptop while connecting your phone to it so it recharges. Cause it’s a real battery drainer for sure. But you won’t need to carry an extra device around.
VincentParticipantOk lol now it starts to make sense. I thought she was trying to scam me by making me buy a phone from her friend or something hahah.
Is it possible to switch to Unicom and keep my number?
Also, any differences between Mobile/Unicom I should know about?
VincentParticipantI’m back in the country since yesterday and will give MegaFit a try one of the following days 🙂 Hopefully tomorrow
VincentParticipantAlso, what does it cost? I need about 500mb of monthly data. What about 3G on an iPad?
VincentParticipant/offtopic @Charlie it would be a good idea to make a sticky with the general “x in Chengdu” and “What to see” threads imo 🙂 I’ve seen you referring to the same threads more than once, and the forum will probably keep expanding with new people asking the same questions over and over again. Just my two cents!
VincentParticipant@Charlie never heard of reddit although I’m a pretty geeky fella when it comes to the interwebs and stuff, but I’ll check it out anyway 🙂
VincentParticipantLooks pretty legit to me
VincentParticipantDoes anybody know if they sell Focus Dailies? A place near Tongzilin or Kehua Bei Lu perhaps?
VincentParticipantSo far it’s only possible on the recent Rock Band 3 game which has special “PRO”-songs.
The screen shows you which string to play and a number indicates the fret.
Here’s a YT video of the gameplay: Blink 182 – Dammit Rock Band 3 Squier Pro Guitar
It hasn’t been marketed well and it’s not available in a lot of countries. I had mine shipped over from the States. There’s also a cheaper version called the “Fender Mustang” controller, which has 102 buttons in stead of actual strings.
I’m actually more looking forward to the release of RockSmith!
VincentParticipantBtw there’s only one drum set I would ever buy and it’s the ION Drum Rocker Pro. It looks pretty real and the build quality is far more superior to the standard toy ones you can buy in a set. Look it up 🙂
VincentParticipantI totally love Guitar Hero. I’ve been playing more or less all the available games and GH:Metallica is by far my favorite one. Some of their songs are just insanely difficult/fast (and fun!).
My general level is expert and finish most songs on +95%, except for some of the hardest ones that I don’t know and don’t like.
I recently bought the innovative Rock Band 3 Fender SQUIER PRO-Guitar for my Xbox360. It’s a real guitar with snares and it kinda works the same way, except you’re playing the real strings on an actual guitar 🙂
Here’s a picture (the green box is the MIDI-adapter):
Although I’m probably reselling it since I don’t want to take all of my gear to Chengdu, but I also don’t want it to just stand there for a year 🙁
VincentParticipantStory of my life
VincentParticipantThere’s a documentary called Bizarre Foods: Chengdu where they visit this place (amongst many others). Definately worth a look if you’re looking for “don’t miss local restaurants” !
There’s a HD version of this show as well on one of the Chinese streaming websites, but I can’t remember which one.
