Aaron TParticipant
I agree with Brian, “warning there are sketchy employers in China” isn’t anything new.
Aaron TParticipantJust as an update to Dieter’s post above. We’ve got 3 guest speakers this month.
Our guests include William Hall GM of the Crowne Plaza City Center and Mark Passmore GM, The Temple House at Swire Hotels Chengdu and Erica Loh GM of The Renaissance Hotel.
Aaron TParticipantI’ve been to a couple screenings of the Banff Film Festival shows and I’m looking forward to this.

Aaron TParticipant@Charlie – Respect on the poster….here is a little trip down memory lane.
Craig! Off your ass and on your feet. Ain’t no time to beat your meat.
All right.
Be out in about a minute.
You’ll go blind, boy.
Hurry up. This is Friday. We got to hit the highway.
Aaron TParticipantI might be able to help. PM sent.
Aaron TParticipantThis takes me back to one of my favorite posts of 2013…hilarious

well rick, fuck you very very much. i went down to that place yesterday. the place is the wholesale place for you to put your gears on(Dildo’s & sex toys), so u better go there soon. Now i get to know who is the real stupid. I started this general discussion to get to know the right source not your fav’s places in an inappropriate way.
Aaron TParticipantI’m looking forward to meetup starting at 7pm tonight.
Jeff is actually going do a product demo for a new travel mobile phone prototype developed right here in Chengdu!
Aaron TParticipant@Lisa – I haven’t heard about the elephant cafe but please tell me more! The cafe where this is going to be held is actually in a residential complex and has been converted into an office.
Aaron TParticipantCharlie that’s the right link, we’ll be using Acuren / Ideo course content.
Callum the team based approach is part of building products using this method. Ideally teams should be 5-6 people and the only constraint is that we would like to have 1 product designer in each team. So go ahead and build the dream team! I think we’ve got the capacity to host about 20 people in the location we’ll be hosting this at. The location is going to be at a Chinese startup working out of a bankrupt cafe near Lan Kuai Fong (It’s a great spot)
Aaron TParticipantCheryl that would be awesome if you can pitch this time around! I’m sorry I actually forgot to have the pitching time last time.
Aaron TParticipant@Lilly – We’re a split about half Chinese and half foreigners who attend this meetup. I hope you can make it out tonight as I have a friend who is a fashion designer who would love to meet you and talk about your business.
For anyone else who is interested in entrepreneurship, tonight should be a great atmosphere to make it happen! I’m really looking forward to the open floor pitch. Come share your ideas and get immediate feedback!

I would rather learn than teach about the Pi, but I could do that. I think Alexander is more knowledgeable on actual coding for the Pi but I wouldn’t mind speaking about the device itself as far as what it does, how it works, it’s potential in everyday use, etc.
If I can’t find anyone else it would be great if you could just do a brief introduction to the product and it’s innovative potential.
One of the underlying themes for this meetup group is building cool things be it a website, solar panel or a damn good beer. I think it would be awesome if you could share your story about how you came up with the idea for chengduliving.com and built this online community from scratch.
These open source platforms allow access to tools to build things in your garage or apartment that would have be unimaginable 20 years ago. That’s what I’m trying to display from this coming event.
Aaron TParticipantWill developing things for Raspberry Pi be among the topics?
Charlie are you offering to do a 15 minute talk on Raspberry Pi?
Aaron TParticipantThank You to everyone that came out on Wednesday Night!
We had a good night, about 35 people were in attendance for the talk on Social Entrepreneurship.
I was inspired by the passion and creativity of the products currently being built by Chengdu Entrepreneurs. Everything from Uri and Mona working on teaching programming to kids. turtleacademy.com to Karen and Matrix who are building a video game out of their apartment. psychizen.com …there are many more so you’ll have to come check it out!
Our next event is going to be on Nov. 20, 2013 at 7pm at the beer nest. For this coming event we are currently looking for guest speakers. After the guest speakers speak we will hold an open “5 minute pitch” for those who want to share the businesses they are currently working on or get feedback on their ideas.
We also announced our intention to bring a Startup-Weekend event to Chengdu. If there is anyone who would like to be a part of organizing or taking part in this event let us know.
