Thank you Ravi.Easy for me,but Chinese citizens seem not to be welcomed without a lot of visa hassles. There are advantages coming from a country that was/is a British colony.

Singapore is more expensive. Consider Indonesia.

I suppose a person needs a meat grinder to feed a big family, otherwise just use a meat cleaver to chop the beef (or chicen)into fine chunks. Pre-fry some onions.

Mix with some oats, egg, chopped sweet pepper and spices.Fry in pan. Now you should have enough hamburger patties for a few servings. Now on the buttered bread with tomato and lettuce and put in sandwich press. Now I KNOW what is in my beef burger!

First time I experienced ‘Subway’ was here in Penang. Recommended by hotel staff. The food is really fresh, clean and tasty.

On the other hand, the KFC here is definitely not as good as the one in Huayang. I suppose a lot depends on the managers. Had some nice treats in little India. Street food. But.. the best food here is at the Adventist hospital. The best treat is not hearing about Hooters!!

@ Ian: Like the quote from Cornell West.Yes,value is one thing. The one characteristic Billy should rather strive to attain is humility.

A humble person does not need to write he is humble.

Anybody have an idea why the iPad 3 with 3G is not available in China? Going to Malaysia and I can buy the pad there for much cheaper than here. Should be able to fit a local micro-sim card I think.

Knee operations are not all the same.I’ve had 2 on the same knee. The 1st op was good for about 7 years. The 2nd is still ok after more than 10 years.I would regard that as successful. The doctors in both cases did not suggest physiotherapy. The only proviso was that I start walking immediately after the op.Needed to stay 1 night in the hospital on each occasion.

Would like to know how much the quote is for the op.

    Best of luck.

Would love to see “Skyfall”. Have been a Bond fan since I read the first book (in hard cover, no less). Sean Connery was number 1, but I also prefer D.Craig to his recent predecessors. Just hope the film has Chinese sub-titles and not visa-versa. Btw..”Bourne”. Also easy to get to the cinema in Raffles City, near the Metro. @ JerryS..not having seen any Bond films, start reading the books. Much better with a little imagination.

Exposing my unwashed soul again? Now why would I need a VPN if I can get free “Youtube” as posted above? Then again:Isn’t this one of the verboten sites in China, and if so,why are we “advertising”?

@ Charlie, had a look at the air purifier and it looks like a neccesary buy. Don’t read Chinese but it seems designed for 30 sqm?

    Anything about filter replacements?

Ignorance WAS bliss. Now I won’t worry too much about quitting smoking. A person can smell the dirty air when opening the doors in the morning. I presume it would help a lot if we had some rain for a change?
