2 Days ago when this was posted it was very cold, and you don’t need to turn on any heaters. You obviously come from a cold country. Paid elec account today..about 600RMB for 3 months. We can’t really compare elec costs. Too many factors..size of house, how many occupants, etc.

Yes Fede, the rules are not very transparent, and probably are not meant to be.Stong apologising to the Chinese govt???I doubt.Seems like you should have a local VPN.

As “July Rush” is a new service(for you),I don’t see how you can say it is a good service.Wait a week or three.

Can an IP address be physically traced? Is it really illegal to have a VPN?

So many acronymns..VPN,PPTP,Open ports,TCP etc etc. Must be a genius to understand it all? Anyway I got a VPN now, basically to download music from Youtube. I had been thinking that maybe some officials have shares in some of these busineses. How many foreigners in China @ about $85-00 a shot? How much would a good hacker cost to hack some of these offending/tracking sites I wonder. All we need is to check our emails and browse the net, albeit on the slow side.

Not clear if you have not registered at all. If you are registered at your current address, you ARE registered, then no need to re-register. I think you have to register within 24-48 hours of arriving, at your nearest police station.

    Hello Federico,

Had a look at your guesthouse. Looks great. You should get it marked on “Chengdu Places” I think. “360 Buy” does not deliver in China according to their website?

I am more interested in your computer skills though. Don’t know if this HDD drive will help me…But–I have another problem. Recently I have a problem connecting wireless.(sometimes) I had always considered that if I am “Skype” connected, then all is fine..BUT I get skype connected and then no email or internet.

If it is ok with you I could come for a meal and you could sort out my laptop. You are probably quite busy weekends,so it would have to be a weekday?

    Have a nice day.

    Gavin.

@ Rick. Don’t want to use taxis and don’t want to buy an iPhone. Have an ipad. Only 10 categories? I can think of many more useful categories. Where to buy train tickets, Where to buy those nice steaks, best hardware shops, a dentist that knows English etc. etc. Guess we will wait for Charlie and give our tuppence worth.

Wiki has summarised what most us know but may not have not equated to the current situation. It is called the ‘CENTURY OF HUMILIATION’. History IS history and no amount of new battles won in the field or in the UN courts or elsewhere can change that. Can’t just tell Japan to take the damn guano heap. Give a pinkie and you may lose an arm.

Started with opium(drug) abuse. All this for money! Can we learn from that? The USA fought the Brits for freedom and won. S.Africa also fought the Brits and won. They were not befuddled by Opium.Again the driving force was money. In the case of S.Africa it was gold and diamonds.
