Is China Unicom’s mobile broadband on 3G even worth using? I mean, I loading webpages on my phone on 3G is painfully slow.
China Unicom’s 3G have been working very well for me on my phone.
Anyone know anything about 3G USB sticks? Know of a good brand or so?
niklasParticipantQuote:I found this:http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=24634356438
60Gb to be used in a year at 350RMB (check the details, just in case I understood it wrong)
Great find! Thanks. The text mentions 5gb per month, but in my understanding it seems like there’s no monthly cap so one could just use it all up then get a new one. Otherwise there’s also some 120gb ones.
niklasParticipantQuote:This needs confirming, but Unicom were offering a 6Gb per month plan for a flat 2000 rmb recently I believe. If there’s a zero too much in there then this might be interesting 🙂
niklasParticipantRegarding your girlfriend’s visa I’d advise you to get in touch with an agency in Hong Kong by email or phone and ask. I’m using this one: http://www.fbt-chinavisa.com.hk
niklasParticipantThanks Charlie. His budget is slightly too tight, but got in touch.
niklasParticipantThrough Taobao I found this store which also got a physical store in Chengdu: http://swyqh.taobao.com
The store is at the music university. Address: 新生路5号
They’re selling “african drums”(非洲鼓) – djembe?
niklasParticipantDid anyone go to the store? I went there late last night to check out the queue, but there was nobody there. Perhaps the mall/China do not want people to gather outside the store.
Know if there are any offers? I’m planning to buy some stuff but might do it later if there aren’t any tempting offers.
niklasParticipantBump. Did you find any useful info regarding this? Please share 🙂 I’m planning to buy a djembe drum.
niklasParticipantJust wanna throw another link into this thread: Forever Bright Trading Limited
Other than having an awesome website they also provide people with China visas. I use to get 6 months F visa through them. Same deal – 2000 HKD. Leave passport in the morning, pick up in the afternoon.

niklasParticipantDo you intend to go do some serious skiing in China? If so – where?
Don’t tell me you’re gonna cycle to a mountain, start climbing it, stay overnight, continue climbing the next day and then ski it…
niklasParticipantI agree with Charlie – your great photos are drowning among mediocre photos. On the other hand personally I think it’s good to get photos out there even if one is not super confident about them. For getting feedback. And also for motivation – uploading photos motivates me to keep shooting.
Gotta disagree about bridge being great and photo taking not being good.
IMHO the first one is well executed according to the rule of thirds guideline and I like the lines, but other than that it’s not very interesting, while the latter one is a snapshot of a interesting moment and it does communicate something to me. Quick snapshots can also be good photos.
niklasParticipantWhich Saturdays? 🙂
Every Saturday from now on?
niklasParticipantBumping this. Any advice? Still haven’t managed to find any place to stash away my things 🙁
niklasParticipantAlso keep an eye out in this section of the forum(jobs – https://www.chengduliving.com/forum/forum/jobs-rentals).
I haven’t had a teaching job, but it seems easy to find one. It’s impossible not to stumble upon English teaching job offers. I’ve often seen the advice to just go to China and look for a job here, as it is easier to find one from here than from abroad.
Oh, and that pic is crazy cute indeed.
niklasParticipantI’m using PPTV on iPad and it still has US shows. They pulled them off the PPTV version on western iTunes stores last summer, but can be accessed if you download PPTV from the Chinese iTunes store.
niklasParticipantQuote:That is great news. How much was the charge? I’m guessing between 2-3,000?2000 HKD, so roughly 1600 yuan. It’s a bargain…
According to my research and experience it seems like 5000 is standard for a NEW 6 months multi-entry F-visa, and around 3000 for renewals.
niklasParticipantQuote:Thats good news for you Niklas. How long is each stay for your 6 month F visa?No restriction 🙂
niklasParticipantThanks everyone! The agency with the awesome website that Vincent posted got me a F visa for 2000 HKD. I can recommend them. Their website(http://www.fbt-chinavisa.com.hk) didn’t give me the impression of them being a very serious visa agency but they are very professional. Had people coming in all the time picking up mainland visas. Seems like visas are not available for all nationalities, but for me as a swede it was no problem. Also saw Canadian and Spanish people pick up visas.
I got my passport with a 6 months multi-entry F visa back after a few hours. Handed it in at 13:00, picked it up at 18:00. Seems like the process sometimes takes another day though.
