CallumParticipant
What else would you do if someone gave you a classroom full of influential young college students?
CallumParticipantWoah, Brendan needs to see this.
CallumParticipantThis is also the TENTH DOJO EVENT! You can see all the posters here: Dojo Poster Gallery
Wow, some of these posters are animated. That just have looked awesome up on the wall.
CallumParticipantAway in a manger
I’ll be home for Christmas
Let it Snow!
Have a Holly Jolly Christmas
Silver Bells
God Rest ye Merry, Gentlemen
Joy to the World
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Jingle Bells
Hark! The herald angels sing
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Winter Wonderland
Feliz Navidad
Silent NightIs this also the set list? The flow is all over the place.
CallumParticipantI’ve been waiting to see a picture of exactly this since I heard.
It seems that coriander-mixed meatballs was the favorite dish for Cameron
Such a casual. Everyone know’s it’s not Hot Pot without rabitt’s brain and pig’s arse.
CallumParticipantI’d be up for this. What kind of places would we be going to? I imagine we may scare half the population of one apartment complex to death. A large group of foreigners knocking on doors and making noises at them.
CallumParticipantBad Santa with Billy Bob Thornton or Jingle All the Way with Arnold Schwarzenegger
Excellent choices. Also, Muppet Christmas Carol? Nice on Jacob. The finest portrayal of Scrooge of all time.
Nightmare Before Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street, and everyone’s favourite christmas movie: Die Hard.
CallumParticipantSeeing as its December. Is it time to start doing christmas movies? I’d love to see The Grinch or Elf while its nice and cold.
Hot cocoa’s on me.
CallumParticipantAlso, that Dojo beer was awesome. It was a product of Benjamin’s I presume? I’d love to try it while I have some more of my wits about me.
CallumParticipantYou really need to use an external flash with TTL (ie. automatic mode), preferably with a diffuser. Set a wide aperture (f2.0 – f2.8), relatively long exposure (1/6s or faster), and a fast ISO (400-800). The flash will freeze the foreground and the long exposure time will catch the ambience of the background.
Bar the external flash, these are almost the exact settings I applied last time. I was quite happy with the results, though I can’t help but be envious of some of Adrien’s. An external is on the list of things to add to my arsenal, as well as a wider lens. I can’t wait to rock into the club with a ten inch module on top of my camera.
If we make it to a December Dojo, maybe I’ll get less fucked up and get more photos.
CallumParticipantFrank Sinatra – Stormy Weather
CallumParticipantFrom a thread entitled What is the most fucked up shit you’ve seen at a party?
- Orgy, including the host’s wife, at 3AM in the neighbors pool.
- Russian Roulette.
- Kevin Spacey showing up.
I think we need to step up our game, guys.
@Adrien, Would you mind sharing some guidance on what kind of settings you’re taking these photos with? Doing anything in post? I seldom get shots as good as these in a party setting. Also, how much/how little are you drinking to maintain your focus?
CallumParticipantI really don’t want to spend Christmas alone in my flat with a bottle of wine and some rice! Is there anywhere to go on the day to have a bit of turkey and some festive company?
That’s assuming that you get the day off work, ha. I’m curious to know what there is to do for those of us who are separated from their families on Crimbo Day. I’d love a roast, and some pudding on the day. Surely there’s some organisation in Chengdu that’s got Christmas covered for the expats.
CallumParticipantI’m excited for this. Tailor made suit for <£130? Yes please.
CallumParticipantThank you for the response, I’ve PMed my email and I’ll add you on Weixin too.
CallumParticipantI can’t help but feel a little excluded sometimes. Unfortunately this is another event by the BCC that I won’t be able to attend.Purely because I can’t really afford ticketed events. Of course, I appreciate that something has to pay for the meat and the wine and a generous donation to charity. Unfortunately this is another event by BCC that I won’t be able to attend.
Is there a broader schedule of events hosted somewhere that I can check? As I’m really eager to attend one of these.
CallumParticipantWell that was fun. While it was a little above my current level, I still picked up some valuable stuff. It’s the first time I’ve learned to actually put together a sentance rather than just phrases, and the vocab that came out of it was great.
See you next time.
CallumParticipantAs long as there’s power for lights and speakers we’re alright, as well as a loo, obviously. This is at the Birthday Boy’s request, as he thinks we’ll get around 50 people, though I’m more skeptical. While taking over a small place is always a good backup (We’re regulars at Hakka anyway), I’d just like to get my options on the table.
CallumParticipantCallumParticipantI can attest to the fact that the museum is hard to find, and this is from the guy that is really eager to see this venue in person, as you know. Typing ‘Fanmate’ or any other similar search term into Google maps gave me nothing. Should I be using characters? Me and some friends actually tried to go on Saturday night. One resource led us to the big Ito Yokado nearby, and after 20 minutes of searching, we found out that it was much further down the road. It being late, wet, and cold, and with the promise of being billed 50 kwai on the door (A scary notion for a bunch of interns near pay day.) we decided to retire for drinks, music, and Settlers of Catan at home.
Does the venue have a website with a good ‘How to find us’ section? The instructions in the forum thread were of no use to me.
In summary, it was a good night.
